Dr. Nabil Dib serves as Medical Director and Chief Investigator at the Celebration Stem Cell Centre (CSCC) in Gilbert, Arizona. It's a private umbilical cord blood bank, public cord blood donation bank, adult stem cell processing, genetic counseling and research facility.
Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has collaborated with Celebration Stem Cell Centre to create one of the world's leading research centers for cord blood stem cell research, processing, and storage. The new facility will expand stem cell research and provide Dr. Dib with a state-of-the-art processing and manufacturing center where he'll have access to stem cells which can be applied to patients in cardiovascular clinical trials.
He recently completed a Phase 1 clinical trial for chronic heart failure patients that centered around injecting adult bone-marrow stem cells into the damaged area of the heart. The trial's premise is that the stem cells will help regenerate the damaged heart muscle. Dr. Dib hopes to begin the next phase of the trial soon.
Dr. Dib believes Gilbert will be a worldwide destination for not only patient treatment, but a location for scientists to be trained for anything from basic science to clinical application for stem cells.
